Martha Argerich and Gidon Kremer, a musical pairing that by 1987 had already formed quite the working relationship together. The comfort and familiarity between the two exudes throughout the performance. This recording delivers a fresh and nimble take on Beethoven’s 4th and 5th Violin sonata. The Piano and Violin are equally as important in the Violin Sonata and Martha and Gidon honour this whilst still allowing each other the room for conversation, the result is an interpretation that feels almost agile in its emotions, fleeting between many characters in an almost effortless way.
