Rajamati has become a song of celebration among the people of Nepal.
This folk Nepal Bhasa song was played in the international arena for the first time during the state visit of Nepalese first Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana to England in 1850.
The lyricist and composed date is unknown but the song or tune is played by both traditional music ensemble and contemporary bands.
The song was first recorded by Seturam Shrestha in Calcutta in 1908 and later popularized by Prem Dhoj Pradhan in 1962 (also recorded in Calcutta).

This is the cover version from the movie Rajamati. In the process we came to know that this is a very well composed song either in terms of both traditional and modern instrumentation or the composition itself. In addition the song brought us closer to our family members while trying to sing, learn, and translate the exact meaning of the song.
