Synopsis:::
Palatak is a social drama that is based on the life of a young adult, Shimul Bose, who runs away from her home and through all her adventures and emotional turmoil, she finds her soul mate, Ranjit. Shimul is a motherless child who has spent all her years in boarding school, just back home. Her step mother is very cruel to her, and on one occasion, in her father, Satyaban Bose’s absence, her step mother Shibani slaps her. Hurt and broken, Shimul runs away from her, leaving a letter for her father telling him about her state. On her escape, in the train she decides to take to Darjeeling, she meets Ranjit. Ranjit not only helps her escape from the police, several opportunists, and a detective duo but also saves her from a group of dacoits. The detective duo adds comic relief in the movie, with their funny attributes and hilarious miscalculations. In the end Ranjit convinces Shimul that it is best for her to head back home and he arranges for the same. The movie ends on a happy note where Shimul cannot part from Ranjit, who already knows that he is in love with her. And they are united in happiness and love.
