The first step off adding mods to a Minecraft server is actually making a modded Minecraft server in 1.16.1. Luckily, we have an in-depth video show you every single step of creating your own modded Minecraft server. As long as you have a modded server setup with Forge, check the link in the description above to see how to do this, all you need to do is drag-and-drop the mods you want to add to your Minecraft server into the ‘mods’ folder in the main server directory. It’s that easy. Just take the mods you want to install on your server and drag-and-drop them into the ‘mods’ folder on your server.

Before you go and jump on your server though, you need to install the mods locally as well. Every mod that is on your Minecraft server you must also have installed locally on your PC in your Minecraft’s mods folder. If you don’t, you will not be able to join your server.
