Performing at a comedy club, the premier Perth comedy club, was never on my bucket list. But one day I decided why not put myself wayyyyyy out of my comfort zone. It is where the growth lies.

A couple of years back I enrolled in a stand up comedy course, but it was cancelled. I was relieved but disappointed. It took 2 years to find the courage again and another place to learn.

This time on the lead up to the final week - the graduation performance, COVID hit, and the show was cancelled. Once again, relieved but more disappointed. Months later, with a week and half notice we were back on and here is the result!

I wasn't nervous about being on stage so much, but absolutely about being funny. I felt awkward, nervous and was worried I would speak too fast and miss parts of the story. It is far from perfect, and needs work if it was ever to be performed again, but here it is.

I share not to brag or be judged (please be kind), but to show you that if I can, you can. I'm not a great joke teller, and don't see myself as a good storyteller. I need work on how I craft and deliver the story, my stage presence, stance and even walking onto the stage (with nerves!). But I hope my effort inspires someone to give something a go.

Do the thing that scares you. It won't be as bad as not giving it a go.
